11th Annual April Fools Ride

Registration is open!  It’s 11th annual April Fools Ride time!  Join the fun with new nonprofit host Bike Walk Baldwin on Saturday April 1, 2017.   Featuring beautiful middle GA countryside in early spring bloom,  there’s a variety of routes, climb and fun  for everyone!  This year, choose from scenic 31, 63, and 80 mile routes and enjoy breakfast, 3 fully provisioned rest stops and SAG support. For the after ride meal, each rider will receive a $5 Milly Money lunch voucher to use in downtown Milledgeville and choose from many great restaurants! Just come back to registration to claim or purchase your Milly Money and enjoy some good Milledgeville eats…are you ready to ride???

Oconee Outfitters becomes latest Bicycle Friendly Business in Milledgeville!


We congratulate our sponsor partner Oconee Outfitters on their Silver-level Bicycle Friendly Business award from the League of American Bicyclists! They are one of twenty-one businesses nation-wide to receive a Silver-level award this cycle, and the seventh business in the state of Georgia to be recognized at this level since the League kicked off the Bicycle Friendly Business program in 2008. This award serves as recognition of their staff’s continued efforts to promote bicycling in our community. Coming August 20, 2016: 4th Annual Red Clay Ramble Race and Recreational Ride!

What: 4th Annual Red Clay Ramble

When: Saturday August 20, 2016

Where: Red Clay Ramble/ Cedar Creek Wildlife Management Area Check Station, 0.5 miles on Checking Station Rd off Hwy 212.

Registration is now open for the 4th Annual Red Clay Ramble! Chain Buster Racing, the Bicycling Club of Milledgeville, and Central Georgia Autism, Ltd have joined forces to bring you the most epic MTB weekend in the State!

The beloved Red Clay Ramble event offers a 56 mile race, as well as 15, 21, 35, and 56 mile recreational ride options along some of middle Georgia’s most beautiful back roads. All routes feature a mix of paved and unpaved surfaces with a variety of climb, making an enjoyable experience for riders of all skill levels. Afterwards, share your ride memories over a savory plate of pasta perfection, a simple spaghetti meal, dessert, and cold beverages with fellow riders. Pre-registration fee for the Red Clay Ramble race is $75; for the recreational ride, $35. Early registration guarantees you a cool, dri-fit T & a pint glass and is open thru 11:59pm, Sunday August 14. After then, a late fee of $10 will apply. Online registration closes 8PM, Thursday, August 18th.

3rd Annual Spring Fever 5K

2016 spring fever bcm slider picIt’s time for the 3rd Annual Spring Fever 5K!  Hosted by Live Healthy Baldwin, this event offers something fun for everyone!  Choose from a run, walk, or ride your bike; all proceeds from this event benefit the Harrisburg Community Gardens’ irrigation system project.

What:  3rd Annual Spring Fever 5k

When:  Sunday April 3, 2016, 1pm

Where:  Mary Vinson Memorial Library parking lot, 151 S. Jefferson Street, Milledgeville, GA

Come join fellow runners, walkers and bicyclists as they make their way from the downtown public library parking lot to the Oconee River Greenway and back, and then stay for the day’s Open Streets festivities until 6pm!  Whether you run, walk or bike, you will be helping wonderful people complete a vital project for the Harrisburg community!

SPINOFFS Ladies Rides


It’s that time of year!  The time has changed and the daylight, outdoors, and fun awaits!  This year we will ride every Thurday at 6:00 pm starting from the Airport Fire Station for a leisure ride around the airport.  The first ride will be on March 24th and then weekly after that, weather permitting.  If you are not sure about the weather, check our Facebook page for the latest updates and we will call it a “go” or “no” there.  Tamara Seragusa, Jennifer Williamson, and Susan May will be your guides.  All levels of riders are welcome as there are plenty of options to cut it short or make it long.  What are you waiting for?  Get out your bikes and ride!  Helmets are required for club insurance protection.  See you there!

Program: “Route Planning 101”

Please “Save the Date,” Monday February 29 for the BCM’s monthly club meeting! Guest speaker and BCM member Benny Watson will discuss how to make a route for a bicycle ride, from overall concept to choosing an area to specific road selection to mapping to downloading to testing to editing to publishing to printing. He’ll also demonstrate tricks of the trade using Also joining us will be Stephen Houser, Director of Twin Lakes Library System, who will discuss their Summer Reading Program and a possible partnership with the BCM.

BRAG 2016 & Milledgeville GA

2016 BRAG is coming to Milledgeville!  The 37th annual BICYCLE RIDE ACROSS GEORGIA is an annual odyssey of discovery of gorgeous Georgia by bicycle. BRAG is not a race. It is recreational, social, and, in many ways, educational. While a strenuous journey, BRAG has been completed by all types of people – college students and first graders, judges and soldiers, teachers and grandparents. It’s like a fun summer camp for the whole family.  And best of all:  Day 2, BRAG comes to Milledgeville!  For the latest news, stay tuned to the BCM/ Bicycling Club of Milledgeville’s Facebook station!

Please join the BCM for January’s monthly meeting featuring guest speakers Linda Kerce and Maria Johnston of Serenity Physical Therapy and Wellness!  Formerly two separate businesses of Serenity Wellness Spa & Salon and Serenity Physical Therapy, the mother-daughter team have joined forces, combined locations and have rebranded their new partnership as “Serenity Physical Therapy & Wellness.  Spotlighted in the Fall-Winter edition of Milledgeville Living, these ladies will share their passion for nutrition, natural healing, and wellness counseling with our group.  We’ll also catch up on club news including the upcoming 1oth anniversary of the April Fools Ride and 1st quarter Open Streets event!

Mayor Proclaims Bike Week in Milledgeville


Friday October 30th, Gary Thrower, Mayor of Milledgeville,  proclaimed the first week of November, Bike Week!  This was appropriate and fitting leading into the Georgia Bike Summit being hosted here November 6-8th.  We love our Mayor and our Mayor and city loves bikes.  What a great place to call home!
