Where:  Red Clay Ramble/ Cedar Creek Wildlife Management Area Check Station, 0.5 miles on Checking Station Rd off Hwy 212.

Registration is now open for the 4th Annual Red Clay Ramble! Chain Buster Racing, the Bicycling Club of Milledgeville, and Central Georgia Autism, Ltd have joined forces to bring you the most epic MTB weekend in the State!

The beloved Red Clay Ramble event offers a 56 mile race, as well as 15, 21, 35, and 56 mile recreational ride options along some of middle Georgia’s most beautiful back roads.  All routes feature a mix of paved and unpaved surfaces with a variety of climb, making an enjoyable experience for riders of all skill levels.  Afterwards, share your ride memories over a savory plate of pasta perfection, a simple spaghetti meal, dessert, and cold beverages with fellow riders.  Additional meals may be purchased for $10 per person.  For all event info, details, and registration, visit Chain Buster Productions.

Pre-registration fee for the Red Clay Ramble race is $75; for the recreational ride, $35.   Early registration guarantees you a cool, dri-fit T & a pint glass and is open thru 11:59pm, Sunday August 14.  After then, a late fee of $10 will apply.  Online registration closes 8PM, Thursday, August 18th.

Please join the BCM for January’s monthly meeting featuring guest speakers Linda Kerce and Maria Johnston of Serenity Physical Therapy and Wellness!  Formerly two separate businesses of Serenity Wellness Spa & Salon and Serenity Physical Therapy, the mother-daughter team have joined forces, combined locations and have rebranded their new partnership as “Serenity Physical Therapy & Wellness.  Spotlighted in the Fall-Winter edition of Milledgeville Living, these ladies will share their passion for nutrition, natural healing, and wellness counseling with our group.  We’ll also catch up on club news including the upcoming 1oth anniversary of the April Fools Ride and 1st quarter Open Streets event!

There’s lot to talk about during the last club meeting of 2015!  We’ll talk about the upcoming Christmas Celebration plans, recap this year’s National Bike Challenge results, and nominate club members for open positions of 2016 BCM club President and club secretary, as well as fun recognitions to be presented at the holiday social.  There will also be a IMBA-SORBA update, discussing our merger with OMBA and the trail development opportunities happening in our area.
Snack sharing is encouraged; feel free to bring home baked goods, chips & dips, and other nibbles, and the BCM will furnish cold beer for your responsible enjoyment. Save the date! Bring a Friend! As always, club meetings are free and open to the public.

December 5th BCM Christmas Celebration

Time to celebrate Christmas, BCM Style! Set aside the evening of Saturday December 5th, deck your bike in all its festive finery, and let the sleigh bells ring! The annual Milledgeville Exchange Club 2015 Christmas Parade starts at 6pm; let’s meet up 5:30pm, South Jefferson Street (exact parade position will be announced later, but we will be easily seen, there’s normally a good deal of antlers among our helmets, lol). After the parade, let’s regroup around 7:15pm and make a BATTY Christmas Lights ride over to the CSH pecan grove, where we’ll enjoy the annual Rotary “Lights at the Grove” community Christmas lighted displays. Afterwards, the Grand Finale: the BCM Christmas Social! Join everyone at Cogentes, 8pm for a Metropolis catered feast of heavy hors d’oeuvres and adult beverages! Deepak will whip up his Mediterranean magic of Yummus Hummus, baba ghanoush, and much more! There will also be some fun year-end recognitions of BCM members and their accomplishments in 2015. Everyone is encouraged to BYOC (Bring Your Own Cookies/ other holiday baked goods). Bring a friend or loved one; $10 bucks cover per guest, fee waived if they join the BCM! Selma MTB Time Trial: Benefit race for Old Capital Racing Youth Cycling Team

Where: Selma Erwin Nature Preserve Trails, Vinson Hwy, Milledgeville, GA

Registration is now open for the all-new Selma MTB Trial! Chain Buster Productions and Old Capital Racing Youth Cycling Team proudly present middle Georgia’s newest addition to the annual Red Clay Ramble lineup: a MTB time trial at Selma Erwin Nature Preserve! This hidden gem of a trail has some of the toughest, most primitive paths south of the Pinhoti. If the promise of roots, rocks, technical creek crossings and steep climbs thrill you, you are in for a real treat! The nearly 5 mile long course will run counter-clockwise and is for experienced riders. View course details here.

All proceeds from the event will go toward scholarship and equipment for the newly created Old Capital Racing Youth Cycling Team, a NICA and Georgia Cycling League youth team.

August 2015 BATTY Ride

august 2015 BATTY ride BCM sliderIt’s time for August’s First Friday BATTY Ride! Let’s meet up at the Twin Lakes Library public parking lot Friday August 7th around 6:15PM for a 6:30PM departure. This will be a leisurely ride looping through local points of interest, enjoying First Friday sights downtown and waving ‘Hi’ to neighborhood friends. Any kind of bike and any kind of clothing will be good for this casual ride around town to help spread awareness of bicyclists as a normal part of traffic. Helmets are required.
